MATH 543 Rings and Fields

This course will delve into concepts from abstract algebra including solvable groups, rings, ideals, quotient rings, polynomial rings, factorization into primes and irreducible elements, field extensions, algebraic elements, and Galois theory involving subgroups and normal subgroups. Solutions of many problems of historical importance in polynomial equations, geometry and number theory will be examined.
