HIST 680 Advanced Studies in American History

This course will examine best practices as they apply to the teaching and research of American history. In the course, students will focus on one major topic in American history (e.g., American diplomatic history, gender issues in American history, slavery in American history, environmental issues in American history). Students will then see how professional historians go about studying, researching and teaching this topic through the use of primary sources including oral history, archival research, literature reviews, historiographical surveys, etc. This is a repeatable course.
