This will include non-prescription medications, complementary and alternative therapies, non-pharmacologic treatments, diagnostic tests and medical devices. Through various teaching methods and activities, students will learn how to assess a patient's health status, determine whether self-care is appropriate and recommend appropriate self-care measures to the patient. Students will also counsel on the proper use of the therapy or device. Topics will vary and may be a continuation of material covered in PHAR 411/PHAR 511 or may be new.
