Microcredential Requirements

A microcredential from the University covers a narrowly defined skill or competency that may involve credit-bearing courses and/or non-credit bearing activities or co-curricular experiences (e.g., workshops, service projects, specific work experience, online modules, short experiential learning opportunities). Credit-bearing courses refer to traditional academic courses that award university credit and appear on the official transcript. To be awarded a certificate of completion for a microcredential requires the completion of one of the following:

  1. at least three but no more than twelve semester hours of non-developmental coursework completed with a “C” or higher with at least 50% of the coursework completed at the University.
  2. five to 50 learning hours of non-credit bearing activities and/or co-curricular experiences.
  3. at least one but no more than twelve semester hours of non-developmental coursework (see list of developmental courses) and five to 50 learning hours of non-credit bearing activities and/or cocurricular experiences. Non-developmental coursework must be completed with a “C” or higher.
