BLMC 160 Deaf Culture in the United States

This course introduces students to basic elements of Deaf culture in the United States including the history and challenges of the Deaf in society. Students will examine individuals and collective group behaviors of the Deaf, as well as educational challenges and societal struggles within the Deaf culture as compared to those of hearing cultures. This course will help students acquire a knowledge base that will assist them with culturally appropriate interactions between Deaf and hearing individuals.
