ENGL 201 Introduction to Public and Professional Writing

This course introduces students to major concepts and conversations in public and professional writing. The course will explore key issues of audience, media, authorship, and language in public and professional discourse communities. Specific attention will be paid to genre awareness, digital composing competency, critical reflection, and language flexibility in and across fields, platforms, and projects. Students will practice composing a range of alphabetic and multimodal texts for a variety of applications and will develop an understanding of both theory and practical skills.
