Core principles of microbiology are integrated to support understanding of infection prevention and control, pathogen transmission, host response, and the role of microorganisms in health and disease. Basic principles of pharmacology and drug therapy, including antimicrobial therapy, are introduced. Evidence-based practice is explored and applied throughout the clinical experience to support safe, effective, and high-quality nursing care.
