RELI 395 Leadership Formation: The Ethic of Compassion

This course examines the ethic of compassion as essential to effective leadership through the lens of various religious traditions. Students will examine which religious ethics guided effective leaders, such as Siddhartha Gautama, Jesus, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Dalai Lama, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Students will examine the ethic of compassion in its religious and philosophical history and how it became central to so many models of religious leadership.
