SPAN 150 Spanish for Professionals

Designed for students with little or no background in Spanish, this course serves students who need to communicate with the Spanish speaker in the various professions. This course integrates thematically related vocabulary and grammar and it is geared to Spanish for specific purposes. It has three basic purposes: to study the Spanish language with an emphasis on basic patterns; to acquire vocabulary especially useful in practical situations and professions; and to make comparisons of cultural similarities and differences of Hispanic countries and to present and discuss relevant aspects of culturally appropriate language use. The course topics vary by semester. (Does not count toward the major, minor, or license).
