OCTH 704 Essentials of Occupational Therapy Practice IV: Community Interventions for Promotion of Health and Wellness

Students develop skills in population-based program planning and implementation for a variety of community settings. Building on previous community fieldwork experience, students conduct further needs assessment in a community agency and develop a program proposal, research and select an appropriate funding source and write a funding proposal. The role of occupational therapy in health and wellness as a resource for everyday life is emphasized. Integrated experiential learning activities help familiarize students with interventions focusing on health promotion/prevention activities, self-management, educational programs and environmental modification for populations in the community. The role of tele-health and other technologies to support performance, participation, health and well-being will also be explored.
