DMSA 400 Introduction to Sonography

This course focuses on defining the scope of practice of the sonographer in the clinical setting and the basic skills required for patient care. Topics will include communication skills, basic vital signs, medical emergencies, invasive procedures and isolation techniques, history of sonography, career options, and professional societies. Scanning planes are presented to include correlation with other imaging modalities. Equipment knobology, sonographic characteristics, and scanning principles will be introduced.
