Special Registration Considerations for Census Date Load Status
Students that make enrollment changes through census date will have their cost of attendance and financial aid automatically adjusted.
Students that make enrollment changes by or after census date will be responsible for additional tuition, fee, and other charges.
Students enrolled in programs offered in blocks within a semester must register for both blocks at the start of the semester since there is currently one census date for the academic period.
Example 1:
For example, a Pell-eligible, undergraduate student with full-time enrollment on the first day of the term will show a full-time Pell Grant as well as loan eligibility. If the student’s enrollment drops below half-time and does not increase prior to census date, the student will be eligible for a less than half-time Pell grant award and have no eligibility for federal loans.
Example 2:
Fall semester has a census date of August 28, a graduate student registers for three credit hours in Fall Block 1 and three credit hours in Fall Block 2 on August 27. The student’s cost of attendance is calculated based on six credit hours and the student is eligible for federal student aid. Another graduate student registers for three credit hours in Fall Block 1 on August 27 and another three hours in Fall Block 2 on September 20. The student’s cost of attendance is calculated based on three credit hours and the student is not eligible for federal student aid based on being less than half-time.
