Major Requirements
A major in pre-law studies – preparation for the practice of law emphasis consists of
the four-year
pre-law studies core in addition to the following courses:

In addition, students are required to complete nine elective hours from the following:
PLAW 390 and PLAW 490: may be repeated if topic is different. PLAW 345 may only be counted once toward the major requirements of the degree, but may be counted towards the elective requirements of the degree as often as taken, if the topic is different.
Students in the major of pre-law studies–preparation for the practice of law emphasis, after they have completed 93 credit hours, may have the option of applying to the law schools with whom the University has entered articulation agreements (see academic advisor for currently approved agreements). This is contingent on completing all of the University’s General Education requirements, all of the major requirements for the pre-law studies–preparation for the practice of law emphasis (except for the electives requirements), and fulfilling the GPA and LSAT requirements of the respective law school (per the articulation agreement). Furthermore, students who are interested in applying early to law school must notify the chair of the pre-law studies program by the end of the fall semester of their junior year. The student must notify the chair of pre-law studies program, with the chair designating a committee of three professors; the committee will review the student’s transcript and make a final recommendation. The final recommendation will be either to approve or reject the student as an early applicant to law school.
Students who apply early and are accepted to law school will receive their undergraduate degree after completing the first-year full-time curriculum of the respective law school. Students who successfully complete the first-year law school curriculum will complete the necessary requirements for an undergraduate degree at The University of Findlay. The law school courses will satisfy the elective requirements for the major in pre-law studies-preparation for the practice of law emphasis as well as the additional 31 hours necessary for graduation (to meet the 124-hour requirement). Students who fail to complete the first-year curriculum (drop out or fail academically) must complete all the necessary undergraduate requirements at The University of Findlay before receiving their undergraduate degree.
