Substance Use Disorder Certificate
The certificate program is primarily designed for the benefit of the non-traditional student. Within the context of this program, “nontraditional student” refers to an individual who is interested in pursuing only those courses relevant to the completion of the certificate program. The administrative classification of students in the certificate program would be that of “non-degree student”. The minimum eligibility requirement for admission to the program is a high school diploma.
The “Certificate in Substance Use Disorder” is an acknowledgement by The University of Findlay that the student has successfully completed the course work identified below with an average grade of “C” or better. The certificate represents the student’s achievement in mastering course work specific to the area of Substance Use Disorder, but does not confer upon the student any rights, privileges, or status. Rather, the certificate provides the student with a tool to promote their potential within the workplace. After completion of the minor/certificate requirement, the student may be eligible for the Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistance licensure that is offered by the State of Ohio. Information will be provided in the sequence of courses in how to apply for this designation upon completion of the minor/certificate. The certificate will also be awarded to a student who is enrolled in a degree program with a minor in Substance Use Disorder.
Certificate Requirements
A certificate in substance use disorder consists of 18 semester hours, including:
