The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at The University of Findlay is designed to equip the student with skills that can be directly applied in the workplace. The integrative nature of the curriculum seeks to link theory with practice, as well as address current and emerging business issues.
Mission and Goals of the Program
The mission of the Master of Business Administration program is to provide an innovative business education for life.
Students graduating from the MBA program are expected to achieve each of the College of Business’s five program goals:
Goal 1: To demonstrate qualities of leadership, professionalism and teamwork in making ethical business decisions.
Goal 2: To communicate effectively in a variety of business settings.
Goal 3: To function productively in a diverse, dynamic global economic environment.
Goal 4: To identify, analyze and solve business-related problems, as well as pursue business opportunities proactively.
Goal 5: To exhibit knowledge, skills and technical competencies appropriate to general business fields and the students' chosen MBA concentration(s).
The Core Curriculum
In the core courses students learn how business and management work and how they relate to the external environment. They are introduced to the functional activities of organizations, learn managerial skills and the use of analytical tools for decision making and have an opportunity to apply what they have learned in various settings.
Concentrations
Concentrations allow the student to individualize the program to fit his/her interests and career needs.
Concentrations are offered in the following areas: business analytics, CMA, CPA, and healthcare management. Optional second concentrations include finance, human resource management, international business, marketing and operations management.
Admission Requirements
Consideration for admission to the MBA program requires:
- A minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate work or have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in at least nine hours of graduate work or a previous master’s degree. This includes classes from all institutions attended.
- Fulfillment of prerequisite competencies.
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or first-professional doctorate-degree, specifically when no baccalaureate degree was offered (e.g., PharmD. etc.); or meet the dual enrollment eligibility requirements as outlined within the College of Pharmacy.
- Submission of a completed and signed application form.
- Submission of official transcripts, which can be in the form of attested credentials from a University-recognized document verification agency, of all college-level work.
Students, whose native language is not English and who have not graduated from a University of Findlay approved English speaking university, must meet the previously listed admission conditions plus the following for full admission:
- Must have a verified international English Language Testing System (IELTS) of 6.5 composite score with speaking, listening and reading bands at 6.0 or above and a writing band of 6.5 and above, or an equivalent score as indicated on the University of Findlay's English Exam Admission Standards. Full admission is dependent on satisfying all admission requirements; however, students may also receive direct admission with Graduate ESL course prerequisites if no more than two bands are under the minimum.
- Provide an affidavit of financial support (original), if not an American citizen or permanent resident.
Those applicants who do not meet full admission criteria or cannot supply a verifiable English score from one of the approved tests as listed above can receive conditional admission. Upon arrival, these students are required to test in the Intensive English Language Program, and if necessary, complete coursework in English as indicated by the University of Findlay's placement exam score before starting their graduate work.
Additionally, if the applicant supplies a non-U.S. school transcript the University's Office of International Admissions and Services may require additional specific documentation.
