EDUC 244 Inclusive Education and Disability Rights in Italy

This course examines the inclusion of students with disabilities in the Italian education system through the lenses of civil and human rights. Students will engage with historical and contemporary perspectives on disability rights, policies, laws, and practices in Italian education as a means of comparison to the United States’ historical context of special education. The course combines classroom instruction with field visits to schools, policy institutions, and advocacy organizations in Italy. This course will be graded S/U.
