MTCC 411 Bacteriology I

Lectures present the principles of basic laboratory techniques and the medically relevant Gram positive species, Gram negative cocci, Enterobacteriaceae, and mycobacteria. Pathogenic species are discussed in comparison to normal flora. Laboratory work emphasizes isolation, identification, and antibiotic susceptibility testing using stock organisms and clinical cultures. Upon completion of the lectures, exams, and laboratory exercises, the student will apply the knowledge and skills necessary for the isolation, identification, and follow-up work of clinically significant organisms and other related microorganisms.
