MTCC 431 Urinalysis and Body Fluid Analysis

Lectures cover the physiology and clinical importance of examining body fluids such as cerebrospinal fluid, pleural fluids, and semen. The course also covers the anatomy and physiology of the kidney in health and disease and the chemical, physical, and microscopic examination of urine. Upon completion of the lectures, exams, and laboratory exercises, the student will explain the characteristics and components of body fluids other than urine, illustrate and explain kidney anatomy, functions, and dysfunction, perform specimen collection, processing, and handling, and apply knowledge of the principles, interpretation, QC, and clinical significance of physiochemical tests performed on urine.
