OCTH 524 Occupations through the Lifespan - Pediatric

This course applies theories of development, theories of human occupation and models of occupational therapy practice to the evaluation and treatment of children from birth through adolescence. Students analyze typical and atypical development, examine the impact of dysfunction on the development of childhood occupations and review legislation regulating pediatric practice. Practical lab experiences include evaluation of children through observational and standardized assessment, formulation of intervention plans and creation of reports documenting performance and progress. Family-centered care, parent-professional collaboration and context of the service delivery system are emphasized throughout the application of the occupational therapy process.
