Violence
The University strongly believes that all students and employees should be treated with dignity and respect and should have a safe, non-violent campus environment. Acts or threats of violence and related conduct will not be tolerated. Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:
- Causing or threatening physical injury to another person or his/her property.
- Making threatening remarks directly or indirectly verbally or through forms of written or electronic communication.
- Allowing unauthorized persons access to University buildings.
- Intentionally damaging, or attempting to damage, property of the University or of another person.
- Exhibiting aggressive or hostile behavior that creates a reasonable fear of injury to another person or subjects another person to emotional distress.
- Committing acts motivated by, or related to, harassment or domestic violence, including stalking.
The Campus Violence Review Committee is charged with investigating reports of threatening and/or violent behavior, and has the authority to immediately suspend or dismiss a student or employee who is deemed a threat to the UF community. Additionally, this committee has the authority to deny a prospective student admission to the University if the prospective student is deemed a threat to the UF community. Individuals subjected to any act of violence or threat should immediately report the incident to UF Campus Police/ Security Office or the Office of Student Affairs. Any member of the University community who witnesses an act of violence should report it.
