ENGL 303 Professional Editing

This course examines how professional editing practices are based in understanding the rhetorical situations encountered as a text is being published. Students in this course will work on projects that allow them to understand the different levels of editing, from offering developmental feedback to revising works in progress to copyediting. Students will learn to effectively use editing practices across multiple disciplines (creative writing, academic, and scientific genres) and across multiple media (written text, audio, video, and interactive webtexts).
