ENGL 309 Intercultural Technical Communication

This course provides students with an advanced understanding of the cultural and ethical dimensions of technical communication. Students will have the opportunity to develop intercultural awareness as well as patterns of perception and thinking to enable effective communication across cultural boundaries. By considering notions of interaction, adaptation, and cultural humility, this course provides students with an orientation to technical communication that is reflexive about culture and cultural identity. Topics discussed include the effect of cultural differences on communication styles, personal identities, and various organizational contexts.
